about me

I’m a freelance journalist usually based in Brooklyn, but currently in London. I write about foreign policy, national security, politics, human rights, and democracy.

I was most recently a senior reporter at Vox, where I covered the conflicts and crises that undermine global stability. My reporting has taken me around the world, from Dakar to Lviv to Tokyo. I previously worked as an assistant editor at New York Magazine. My work has also been published in Foreign Policy, Splinter, ARTnews, The American Prospect, The Observer, The New Republic, Latino USA, and Narrative.ly.

I have been an Arthur F. Burns Fellow, a United Nations Fellow, and my work has been supported by the Foreign Press Center Japan. I received a George Polk Award for Magazine Reporting for my contributions to New York’s cover story: "Cosby: The Women."

I attended journalism school at Northwestern University and earned my undergraduate degree in international politics from Georgetown University. I rarely tweet, but you can follow me here or reach me here.
